Check out the Asbury Rock Stars Charity Softball Tournament!

ASBURY PARK, N.J. – June 14, 2008 – Following up to a successful first game in the summer of 2007, the Asbury Rock Stars Charity Softball Tournament will make a showing for it’s second annual game on Saturday, June 14, 2008.
The tournament is played by local bands, solo artists, and support staff & volunteers from Asbury Park and surrounding areas, split into eight teams in an effort to raise money for various charities of their choosing. The winning team's charity will get 35% of all proceeds raised (20% to 2nd place and 10% to 3rd place and all runners up will receive 7%). Last year’s roster of 40 musicians has expanded to almost 100 players from local bands, singers/songwriters and behind the scenes people.

This year’s teams are: The Problem, Status Green, No Wine for Kittens playing for Brookdale Public Radio, 90.5 The Night ; Maybe Pete, Divine Sign, Mable playing for National Multiple Sclerosis Society; Arlan Feiles and his Lone Orchestra playing for Habitat for Humanity; The Backbeat, Cool Days End, Eric Ginsberg & The New Originals playing for Asbury Park Fire Department; Turtle Soup, Outside the Box, Last Perfect Thing playing for Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation; Hey Cole Team playing for American Cancer Society (The Chilling Details, The Milwaukees, Anthony Fiumano and the Medicine Chest, Joanna Burns, Alex Brumel, The Misery Loves, Uniform); Singer/Songwriter Team-Captain playing for Monmouth County SPCA (Sheli Aarden, Bobby Strange, Aster Pheonyx, Ken Shane, Geena, Joe Harvard, Bob Denson); Behind-the-Scenes Team playing for Food Bank of Monmouth County (Aaron Zimmer, Mary O'Connor, Phil Schlenger, Johnny Bud, Jared Migden, Kate Hofmeister, Steve Dundas, Danielle Montesano, Chris Montesano, Bill O’Brien,
Race Thomas, Mike Merelle, Stone Pony staff, The Saint Staff)
Seven games will be played on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Burt Willis Field located on Old Corlies Road in Neptune, NJ. Games will start at 10:00 am and 12:00 noon with the play-off game at 2:00 pm and the Championship Game at 4:00 pm.

Prize auctions will also be held throughout the day to raise additional funds. Local merchants have generously donated gift cards, products, and more from their shops and restaurants for the raffles. Merchandise from the bands will also be raffled.

There are a number of ways to make a donation to the Asbury Rock Stars Charity:
Come to one of the bands shows and simply make a donation (cash or check).

The Asbury Rock Stars Charity is currently seeking sponsors for the 2008 Tournament.
